Why, indeed?

“Success doesn’t depend so much on what you know, but who you know.” Tired people like to use this hackneyed proverb as an excuse for their own lack of success, but there’s quite a bit of truth to it. Fortunately, in our society, there are plenty of opportunities to get to know people, and if one has the basic tools to cultivate these contacts, one will have a lot of friends, and ample success in business.

In today’s increasingly casual world, unfortunately, social norms are largely muddled, and the lack of established guidelines for dress, behavior and communication often results in confusion and discomfort for people suddenly expected to perform and interact with little prior coaching. People Polish Media provides that coaching. We also make it fun. We emphasize the areas of demeanor most immediate to making a fabulous first – and lasting – impression. The polish.

Polish, defined, in part, as manners, etiquette and good breeding, is a code of behavior by which people interact. Polished people, typically successful, are generally uncomfortable in the presence of those lacking manners. When a person is unpredictable, insensitive or downright rude, that person is shunned. On the other hand, a person who is gracious, charming and pleasant will be sought after for company and for enterprise. The great writer, John H. Young, stated “civility is not only one of the essentials of high success, but…is almost a fortune of itself, and…he who has this quality in perfection, though a blockhead, is almost sure to succeed where, without it, even men of good ability fail.” An able and talented, though unconnected person who embraces this code of behaviors, studies it and integrates it in their personality, will certainly make powerful new acquaintances and reap the benefits of knowing the right people.

Our mission at People Polish Media is to open the world’s eyes to the immeasurable power of civility, style and social fluency; first to dispel the false notions that they are inherited from blue-blooded ancestors and reserved for the stuffily aristocratic; and secondly, to convince them that, contrary to boring all around them, they will vastly improve their lives, socially and professionally. Some contest that proper dress, social interaction and the written word is dead, and that today’s workforce prefers the savvy to the civil. We hold that such people lack refinement in themselves and will see their fortunes constrained by its absence. Until society is interacting entirely through electronic avatars or remote-controlled cyborgs, polish will remain an essential attribute.
